Description

This edition of the Aeneid by Publio Virgilio Marone has been produced in a limited edition of nine hundred and seventy-five copies numbered from 1/975 to 975/975 and seventy-five copies numbered from I/LXXV to LXXV/LXXV, for the whole world. In addition to the text of the poem, translated by Rosa Calzecchi Onesti, the Work includes an introductory essay and three islands of commentary by Professor Alessandro Schiesaro, twelve color plates outside the text, eighteen one-color illustrations and one "dry" illustration in the text taken from original drawings created specifically by Maestro Ugo Attardi. The text was set with the Garamond font in fifteen point and with the Trajan font in thirty-two point. The text was printed at "Grafiche Damiani" in Bologna on BFK Rives 100% cotton fine paper, specifically produced by Cartiere d'Arches with a particular exclusive formula studied for artistic publishing. The twelve plates outside the text were made with a litho-serigraphic technique on BFK Rives 100% cotton, 250 g fine paper at the Stamperia d'Arte "Squadro" in Bologna. The graphic design was curated by the "A&G" studio in Rome. The stitching, binding and cover of the Volume in barrel-dyed and hand-finished calfskin, with six ribs on the spine and gold inscriptions, were made, according to an ancient manual process, by the artisans of the Legatoria d'Arte "L'Arte del Libro" in Todi. The cover work, entitled Il volto di Enea by Maestro Ugo Attardi, consists of an original eighteen-color silkscreen on a 24k gold-coated plate, 25 x 35 cm, made at the "Squadro" Art Printing House, in a limited edition of nine hundred and seventy-five copies numbered from 1/975 to 975/975 and seventy-five copies numbered from I/LXXV to LXXV/LXXV. Each copy of the work Il volto di Enea is numbered and signed by the Author, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and Provenance. Each Volume bears the copy number and the autograph signature of Maestro Ugo Attardi. Copy no. 691/975.
