Description

Writing inspired by the theories of Beccaria and his Dei delitti e delle pena, published in 1764 with a resonance that we can define as worldwide. In our booklet we refer in particular to the very recent promulgation in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany of the Reform of criminal legislation, known as Leopoldina, on 30 November 1786: in this law Pietro Leopoldo abolishes the death penalty, replacing it with public works for life, with a certain inspired precisely by Beccaria's theories. Nice engraved frontispiece, with Justice trampling the instruments of death in a natural landscape
