Description

Folder with three etchings printed in blue-black, plus another etching on China paper applied to the title page. Carlo Rapp's graphic work is inspired by a composition for violin and magnetic tape by Maestro Giorgio Ferrari dedicated to the violinist Riccardo Brengola, composed in 1980 and performed for the first time at the Accademia Chigiana in Siana in 1981; a theatrical version was staged at the Piccola Scala in Milan also in 1981. Sixty copies of this folder numbered from 1 to 60 were printed. The four engravings made by Carlo Rapp in Bulino, etching and aquatint on zinc plates were pressed with presses by Giorgio Upilio on Hahnemühle paper. The Baskerville character of the Ruggero Olivieri monotype was imprinted in the Mainardi graphic workshop. Sample no. 57. Our copy contains a letter sent by Carlo Rapp to Carlo Tronconi, the great master typographer from Milan: in the letter, the artist expresses gratitude for his precious collaboration in the preparation of the volume and defines Ludus as "the most mature work of my etchings
