Description

The volume presents two works of a historical-juridical nature by the philosopher Gian Vincenzo Gravina (1664-1718): Originum iuris civilis libri tres, first edition published in Leipzig in 1708, with a preface by Johann Burckhard Mencken, which also appears in our edition , and De Romano Imperio liber singularis, first published in Naples in 1713, and since then always published together with the Origines. In these two works, starting from a historical reading of law, Gravina exposes his vision of the State starting from philosophical positions that can be traced back to Platonism, Cartesianism and seventeenth-century stoicism. Typographic dress enriched by a beautiful typographical brand on the title page and by engraved headers and drop caps
